We made it to Canada!

We made it to Canada!

We crossed the border in Porthill, Idaho and switched our motorcycles from miles to kilometres. Following the route along the border to Vancouver, we passed mountains, forests and small villages where anything but cash seems unknown (some say BC stands for “bring cash” instead of British Columbia). And we discovered that the visible border zone between the US and Canada actually exists. Whether there is a forest, or a meadow or whatever, the border is clearly visible as a bare strip of land of about 30 feet width all along the 5’525 miles and its carefully maintained by the two parties.

Two days later, we arrived in Vancouver and immediately fell in love with this city. It started with a very warm welcome at a friends of friends place. Thanks to Leanne and Justing for their great hospitality! One of the most rewarding things when travelling is meeting and connecting with people like them!

Every summer, Vancouver holds a firework competition between different countries. The day we arrived, it was China’s turn. And yep, they met our expectations. I think these people invented firework. Smileys and hearts were exploding over our heads as if there was no tomorrow.

Vancouver can be easily explored by foot. And in almost every street corner, an inviting coffee shop, ice cream booth or restaurant makes you stop and snack. From Tacos to Japadogs (Japanese Hot Dog) over Sushi and Fish’n’Chips, we tried (almost) everything in this “multiculti” town. The weather was rainy and sunny and we felt a bit sad that we had to leave after only 2 days to keep up with our plans.

We will certainly be back. See you soon, Canada.
